Letter in Support of Passage of a Pennsylvania False Claims Act – House Bill No. 1697 & Senate Bill No. 38 (2025)
Washington, D.C. — Taxpayers Against Fraud (TAF), The Anti-Fraud Coalition’s sister organization, announced its support for the passage of a Pennsylvania False Claims Act – House Bill No. 1697 & Senate Bill No. 38 (2025).
In a letter submitted on May 22, 2026, to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, TAF underscored the False Claims Act’s demonstrated effectiveness in safeguarding taxpayer dollars and noted that Pennsylvania is forfeiting Medicaid and non-Medicaid recoveries by lacking a state False Claims Act. The organization said passing these Bills would help uncover hidden fraud schemes and recover taxpayer dollars.
TAF pointed to data from thirty-three states and territories that have enacted their own False Claims Acts with qui tam provisions. Their results demonstrate what Pennsylvania stands to gain.
The group urged lawmakers to support the efforts to pass a False Claims Act, calling it a proven, bipartisan approach to protecting public funds and ensuring accountability.
“Protecting taxpayer money from corporate fraud is not a partisan position. It is a foundational obligation of government. Passing the Bills in either the House form or the Senate form is consistent with the most basic tenets of conservative governance: less fraud, less waste, more accountability, and no new taxes,” wrote TAF President and CEO, Jacklyn DeMar.
Thank you to Randall Fox of Kirby McInerney LLP, Kenneth Levine of Stone & Magnanini LLP, and Sarah Holloway of Keller Grover LLP for their assistance in drafting the letter.
