Taxpayers Against Fraud Backs Minnesota Bill to Strengthen Anti-Fraud Enforcement
Washington, D.C. — Taxpayers Against Fraud (TAF), The Anti-Fraud Coalition’s sister organization, announced its support for Minnesota Senate File No. 4786 (SF4786), legislation to strengthen the state’s False Claims Act and improve efforts to combat fraud.
In a letter submitted April 16 to Senators Ron Latz and Doron Clark, as well as the Members of the Minnesota Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety and the Members of the Minnesota House of Representatives, TAF highlighted two key provisions: stronger protections for whistleblowers and expanded authority to pursue large-scale tax fraud. The organization said these reforms would help uncover hidden fraud schemes and recover taxpayer dollars.
TAF pointed to major cases such as the Feeding Our Future scandal as evidence that stronger protections are needed to encourage insiders to report wrongdoing.
The group urged lawmakers to advance the bill, calling it a proven, bipartisan approach to protecting public funds and ensuring accountability.
“By passing SF4786, Minnesota will close critical gaps in the law by protecting the whistleblowers who risk their livelihoods to expose fraud and by finally holding large-scale tax cheats accountable,” said TAF President and CEO, Jacklyn DeMar.
Thank you to Randall Fox of Kirby McInerney LLP, Kenneth Levine of Stone & Magnanini LLP, and Sarah Holloway of Keller Grover LLP for their assistance in drafting the letter.
