TAF Briefs Congressional Lawmakers on Merits of SEC Whistleblower Program Amid Disinformation Campaign

WASHINGTON – Taxpayers Against Fraud (TAF) is briefing congressional lawmakers on the merits of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Whistleblower Program amid a concerted disinformation campaign led by the fraud lobby aimed at undermining one of the most successful anti-fraud programs in U.S. history. Recently, Bloomberg Law ran a misleading and misrepresentative article lacking key context about the SEC Whistleblower Program.

“There’s no question that without a strong whistleblower program at the SEC, billions of dollars in financial fraud would go undiscovered every year,” said Jeb White, Chief Executive Officer of TAF. “Since the law’s inception, the fraud lobby has sought to undermine, weaken, and discredit the whistleblower program. These attacks on the taxpayer must be countered and the record must be corrected. Taxpayers Against Fraud is proud to lead the fight defending qui tam laws and the courageous whistleblowers who expose fraud by educating lawmakers and their staffs on the indisputable merits of federal whistleblower programs.”

The TAF memo correcting the record that was delivered to lawmakers can be found below.
