The Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund is a public interest non-profit organization dedicated to fighting fraud against the government by working to protect whistleblowers and strengthen the effective operation of the laws that empower them to expose misconduct and the theft of taxpayer dollars. These laws include the federal and state False Claims Acts, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Internal Revenue Service whistleblower programs, and the Motor Vehicle Safety Whistleblower Act.
All of these laws incentivize integrity through public-private partnerships, and permit courageous whistleblowers to alert government enforcers to fraudulent and abusive practices that are all too common in major industries throughout our economy, including health care, pharmaceuticals, defense contracting, investment, and banking. TAFEF works to advance the effectiveness of these laws and to promote and protect the efficient use of taxpayer dollars. We are supported by our membership of more than 400 experienced attorneys and by donations from foundation grants, successful whistleblowers and citizen advocates. TAFEF is the 501(c)(3) arm of Taxpayers Against Fraud, which was founded in 1986.
TAFEF works to:
Advocate before Congress and the state legislatures and in the courts to ensure the effective enactment and proper interpretation of whistleblower laws;
Advance government and public support for whistleblower cases;
Educate the public, the legal community, government officials, advocacy organizations and the press about the long and successful history and impact of whistleblower lawsuits; and
Promote the success and living legacy of whistleblowers and the laws that empower them to come forward on behalf of the taxpaying public.
