Four Companies pay $39 Million to Settle California Whistleblower Case

James Jones Company, Mueller Co., Tyco International, and Watts Water Technologies have agreed to pay $39 million to 54 California municipalities and water districts to settle a whistleblower lawsuit alleging the companies provided substandard parts for water supply systems.  The case has been 12 years coming to resolution. >> To read more

  

 


NJ Hospital Pays $3 Million
Trinitas Regional Medical Center has agreed to pay over $3 million to settle a False Claims Act lawsuit alleging the hospital defrauded Medicare by manipulating "outlier payments."  >>  To read more


Sports Clinic Pays $3  Million
The Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles has agreed to
pay over $3 million to settle a False Claims Act case alleging the clinic took kickbacks from the HealthSouth Corp. in exchange for referrals.  To read more


Three FCA Cases In Orbit
Several big False Claims Act cases are waiting to settle.

4 Forest Labs:
Forest Laboratories has set aside $170 million to settle a False Claims Act case related to kickbacks paid to doctors for prescribing antidepressants Celexa and Lexapro to children, as well as for the off-label marketing of Levothroid.

GlaxoSmithKline: GlaxoSmithKline has reserved $400 million to settle off-label and kickback charges related to "several products” sold from 1997 to 2004, including the antidepressant Wellbutrin.
4 Wyeth:
This is a nominal-pricing case dealing with acid-reflux drug Protonix.  The U.S. Government joined the case before Pfizer purchased Wyeth, so it is assumed settlement costs have been factored in.
