SAIC Faces $230 Million Liability
Defense contractor SAIC's most recent SEC statement notes that"there is a reasonable possibility of ... exposure to loss estimated to be up to approximately $230 million" due to the fact that the U.S. Department of Justice has joined a False Claims Act case related to serious contract improprieties at the National Center for Critical Information Processing and Storage (NCCIPS) at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
 
    

Arizona Settles AWP Cases
On June 25, Arizona settled with 26 pharmaceutical defendants including Abbott,
Baxter, Bayer, Aventis, Dey, Watson, Immunex, Roxane, Pharmacia, and Fujisawa Healthcare.  No details have been announced pending court approval. >> To read more

Massachusetts Sues Developer
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley is suing Crossroads Development of Acton, and its owners and a related contractor, for violating the False Claims Act. The contractor allegedly lied about expenses to reduce their paper profits in order to take advantage of certain ordinance and zoning waivers. >> To read more

Pinkerton to Pay $1 Million

Pinkerton Government Services Inc. has agreed to pay $1 million to settle a False Claims Act suit alleging the company improperly billed the U.S. government for health insurance costs related to a contract for guarding Department of Energy Facilities. >>
