HHS Say "Tell Us More"

It Takes a Village to Detect Fraud

In a recent paper entitled, "Who Blows the Whistle on Corporate Fraud?," Alexander Dyck, Adair Morse, and Luigi Zingales note that "It takes a village to detect fraud because not only are there many different players involved, but the process by which this fraud emerges rests on interaction between these players.”
 The authors note that  monetary rewards do not increase the percentage of frivolous lawsuits filed.  >> To read more

Positively Not Overnight
Whistleblower Mark Oehm explained to the The Buffalo News how one of the scams used by National Air Cargo worked.  Oehm told the newspaper that Christopher Alf, National Air Cargo founder and president had instructed him "Bill for overnight, but send it second day. If the customer says to send it overnight, you send it second day.  One out of 25 might actually catch you at it.”  This fraud, and others, were settled by National Air Cargo for $3.3 million. >> To read more

Fraud Loophole Eliminated
A multibillion-dollar loophole that would have exempted most overseas Department of Defense, General Services Administration, and NASA contracts from having to report fraud to the U.S. Government has been eliminated with support from the offices of the Inspector General of all relevant agencies.  >> To read more
