$26 Million Hospital Settlement

Atlanta's oldest hospital has agreed to pay $26 million to settle charges it billed outpatient visits as inpatient admissions, billed for services not covered by Medicare, and kept patients longer than necessary in order to qualify them for skilled nursing services.

Community Memorial Health System has agreed to pay over $1.5 million to settle charges it violated the anti-kickback provisions of Medicare by giving doctors interest-free loans, below-market rents, and employing physician family members.>>
