The Wall Street Journal reports DoJ and the Pentagon are looking into allegations that Perdue Farms, Sara Lee, Conagra Foods, and the Public Warehousing Corp, price-gouged and paid or received kickbacks in order to get contracts to supply food to the U.S. military in Iraq. The Justice Department says "a very large and active investigation into criminal and civil fraud involving amounts in the hundreds of millions of dollars," is underway. >> To read more (subscription).
No Gifts, No Entrance
Two years ago, Minnesota decided to prohibit doctors from accepting more than $50 worth of gifts or food per year from pharmaceutical sales representatives. The result: many doctors are simply banning sales reps from their offices. >> To read more

Iowa Sues 79 Drug Makers
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is suing 78 drug companies for price-gouging his state's Medicaid program. The lawsuit is similar to Average Wholesale Price litigation filed under the federal False Claims Act. >> To read more
