Infusion Therapy Fraud
The Department of Justice has charged R&I Billing, a South Florida company, with fraudulently billing Medicare for $170 million for infusion of HIV drugs. Infusion therapy fraud is so common in Florida, that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced that all infusion companies operating in the state will have to reapply as Medicare providers. >> To read more
Home Health Fraud in NY
New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has subpoenaed 56 home health care agencies following the arrest, last December, of more than 25 individuals in the industry. The Attorney General's office is investigating whether home health care training schools were selling certifications to those who had no training at all. >> To read more
Missing Weapons
The U.S military says it has no idea where 110,000 AK-47 assault rifles, 80,000 Glock pistols, 135,000 pieces of body armor, and 115,000 Kevlar helmets that were sent to Iraq ended up. The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, the Department of Justice, and the FBI are now investigating possible fraud and several criminal investigations have been initiated. >> To read more
Louisiana Revises State FCA
Louisiana has revised its Medical Assistance Programs Integrity Law ("MAPIL") to conform with Section 6031 of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 ("DRA"). The state is now waiting to see if this revision of the state's Medicaid False Claims Act is sufficient to pass muster with HHS OIG. >> To read law
