The Army Times reports that Sioux Manufacturing Corp., of Fort Totten, N.D., is under investigation for allegedly producing Kevlar cloth that was used as a ballistic liner for helmets but which did not meet minimum standards for safety. Katrina Suit Out from Under Back on March 28, we noted that a massive whistleblower False Claims Act case had been filed by Cori and Kerri Rigsby against State Farm, Nationwide, Allstate and USAA insurance companies, as well as engineering firms that examined property damage after Hurricane Katrina on behalf of these companies. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) says he will introduce legislation to require drug makers to disclose payments they make to doctors for consulting, lectures and seminar attendance.
