U. of Phoenix Loses Again
The Supreme Court has denied a petition for certiorari filed by the University of Phoenix which was seeking reversal of a September 2006 decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  The case is now slated to go to trial with the University of Phoenix liable for over a $1 billion under the False Claims Act, according to the school's own Supreme Court brief.  >> To read more

U.S. Joins FCA Lawsuit Against HP, Sun Micro and Accenture
The U.S. Department of Justice has joined a False Claims Act lawsuit against Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems and Accenture, claiming the companies paid kickbacks to get government information technology contracts steered their way.  The suit covers conduct from the late 1990s to the present. >> To read more

Florida Joins Suit
The State of Florida has filed suit, under the Florida False Claims Act, against a company specializing in mental health case management services The complaint alleges that Gift of Life Community Services, Inc. routinely billed Medicaid for work that was not performed and that the actual damages are over $1 million>> To read more
