One Click Statistics Sheet
A simple one-page presentation of official Department of Justice False Claims Statistics for FY 1987-2009 can be found >> here
(note that this table does not include recoveries to the states in Medicaid cases).

The average relator award when DOJ intervened or otherwise pursued the case is 16.84% award of FCA recovery.

DoJ data is less than complete and somewhat distorted. Not only are criminal fines in False Claims Act cases not counted, but neither are those portions of federal settlements allocated to the states in Medicaid cases.  Finally, we have cases that are simply not booked at all because of poor reporting to Main Justice by various U.S. Attorneys offices.

The TAF Education Fund keeps a detailed running tabulation of False Claims Act settlements.  Our settlement numbers do not include criminal fines, but do include state settlements.

FCA Recoveries Over $22 Billion
Total False Claims Act recoveries (Federal and State) since the 1986 amendments now total over $24 billion.

To put this into perspective, the $24 billion recovered from fraud-feasors to date represents a stack of $100 bills more than 23 miles high.

In the health care arena, the U.S. Government is recovering $15 back for every $1 invested in False Claims Act health care investigations and prosecutions.
