Nine whistleblowers received awards in FY 2014. The SEC also announced it had made the largest whistleblower award to date, awarding $30 million to one whistleblower. The office also gave additional awards to whistleblowers who received awards in previous fiscal years. These additional awards were paid out from additional SEC enforcement efforts directly related to the original whistleblower tip.

In FY 2014, the SEC also used for the first time its authority under the Dodd-Frank Act to bring enforcement action against a company for retaliation against a whistleblower.
